Aims Community College does not allow the installation or use of any AI transcription services on any Aims-owned devices, other than preapproved services such as Zoom AI Companion. There are numerous legal, business, and personal concerns with a number of these services.
Aims Community College meeting hosts who see other AI transcription services joining Aims meetings are required to stop the transcription service or request that the initiator of the service stop the service. For example, you can stop read.ai from recording a Zoom meeting by typing “read stop” in the Chat section.
Common AI transcription services that Aims does not allow for use include but are not limited to: read.ai, otter.ai, fireflies.ai. Read.ai has been removed from the approved Product Catalog.
Aims IT will remove installations of unauthorized AI transcription services from Aims-owned devices. You can remove read.ai yourself by following these directions:

If you are unable to remove / uninstall any of these disallowed services, please contact the IT helpdesk at https://help.aims.edu, and choose: Application or Software > Request a Service > Application Assistance Request > Request Service, and fill out the form and submit it.
